The Venue
A Woodland Setting for Your Wedding Day
Candleston Woods sits within ancient broadleaf woodland on the western boundary of Merthyr Mawr National Nature Reserve. Close by stand the ruins of Candleston Castle, a late-medieval fortified manor house abandoned centuries ago as the dunes encroached. It is a quiet, well-established venue with a distinct character of its own.
The Forest Barn provides covered space for the ceremony and reception, with the surrounding woodland and meadow available for outdoor gatherings. Bell tents and woodland cabins accommodate guests overnight, making the venue self-contained for a full weekend.
The National Nature Reserve begins at the woodland edge — sand dunes and a sandy beach are accessible on foot from the site, giving guests somewhere to go between the ceremony and evening.

The Forest Barn is a covered space for ceremonies and receptions, opening onto a decked terrace and the surrounding woodland. It can be dressed to suit the couple's style. Capacity is suitable for intimate celebrations through to larger wedding parties, with the meadow and woodland clearing available for outdoor use.

Bell tents and woodland cabins are available for wedding guests to stay overnight — or for the whole weekend. Hot showers and toilet facilities are on site. Having guests on site changes the pace of a wedding day considerably: no rushing, no taxis, no early departures.
